Thousands expected at Rewind

Eighties festival celebrates 10 years

Martin Kemp Thousands are expected to descend on Scone Palace this weekend for Rewind 2018.

The ultimate 80s music festival will be returning to Perth for its 10th year, with some of the top names in the music industry taking to the stage from Friday, July 20 until Sunday, July 22.

Headlining the Saturday night will be OMD, with Status Quo topping the Sunday night bill.

Some of the other big names set to enjoy this year include Gipsy Kings, UB40, The Boomtown Rats and Midge Ure.

Also on the bill are Roland Gift, Howard Jones, Bonnie Tyler and Heaven 17.

And aside from the two days of music in the grounds of the palace, a range of other entertainm­ent will be on offer as well.

Top American comedian Reginald D Hunter and stand-up Daisy Earl will be leading the comedy section of Rewind Reginald D Hunter Midge Ure this year.

Martin Kemp from Spandau Ballet will also be on stage mixing his own 80s DJ set.

There will also be the ultimate silent disco, musical bingo, John Leather’s 80s movies disco and Rhythm of the 90s.

One of the highlights will be massaoke, which is growing in popularity around the country. Inspired by karaoke, the songs will instead be sung en masse by the crowds at Rewind.

Camping tickets are available as well at Rewind, with Friday night campers being treated to a UV ceilidh.

And there will be more music from the likes of Martha Wash, A Flock of Seagulls, Peter Hook and the Light, Tiffany, The Selecter, Hue and Cry, The Skids and Imaginatio­n.

Also on the bill are Kim Appleby, Wendy James of Tranvision Vamp, Odyssey, Hipsway and Roachford.

A spokespers­on for the festival said: “Rewind is so much more than just a festival. We want to give you an experience that you’ll never forget!

“We have meticulous­ly hand picked a selection of local craft beers and ales for your enjoyment and we’ll be introducin­g a brand new cocktail lounge with out very own piano man where you can sit and enjoy some music over an old classic.

“Of course it’s not Rewind without the inflatable church for you lovely lot to go and get (sort of ) married!

“We also have crazy golf, massaoke, fun fair rides, and Ziggy’s, our new and improved kids area featuring circus skills, face painting and a giant kids 10th birthday party.

“We are also introducin­g Unwind - a special wellbeing zone to recharge with disco zumba, massages and a chill out area to put your leg warmer clad feet for a while.”

Tickets start from £65 per day, with non-camping weekend tickets £115 and full weekend camping tickets £135.

And youth tickets for under 18s are £25 per day, £35 for the weekend and £40 for camping.
