Caroline Brown (right) proposed to Christine Mowbray on stage There was a party atmosphere all weekend Robyn Allan travelled a short distance from her home in Perth with her mum Lorna Graeme Brown, Donna Brown,Charlie Turner, Jackie Turner, Donna Morren and Andy Moran all had a great time A sea of lycra, headbands, fishnets and fluorescent colours swept over Scone Palace at the weekend as Rewind Scotland celebrated its 10th birthday in style.

Perth and Kinross residents were among the thousands who descended on the venue for the three-day 80s music extravaganza.

Acts including The Skids, Tiffany, OMD, The Boomtown Rats, Midge Ure and Bonnie Tyler all took to the stage before Status Quo brought the curtain down with their headline set on Sunday night.

The weather also played its part, with some rain on Friday giving way to dry conditions on Saturday before it really heated up in the sun on Sunday.

Organisers hailed Rewind 2018 as “the best yet”.

And local residents among the crowd were quick to agree.

Robyn Allan from Perth was there with her mum Lorna and said it was great to have a festival like Rewind right on the doorstep.

“We were able to just go to our local pub and get a taxi in,” she said.

“It’s a wonderful festival. There is such a nice atmosphere. Recently it seems like we have been the music capital of Scotland.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the Boomtown Rats and Status Quo. I’m still hoping Midge Ure and Bob Geldof might appear together.”

Andy Moran (55), who used to be able to hear T in the Park from his home in Kinnesswood was making his Rewind debut and said: “It’s absolutely fantastic.

“I just got dragged along but it’s been great. It’s great having something like this here.”

Pal Charlie Turner added: “I’m looking forward to Heaven 17 and my wife has been a fan of Status Quo since she was a teen.

“My only complaint is they would not let us in with water bottles on a day like today but it’s been great.”

It was not just residents from Perth and Kinross who enjoyed the show. People from all over Scotland were quick to heap praise on the event and the venue.

Sandra Nellor, Susan Cole and Susan Paton travelled from Ayrshire to camp over the weekened.

They said: “Scone is such a beautiful setting.

“The weather has been great and we haven’t laughed so much in our lives.

“It’s not like T in the Park. It’s so much better. Everyone has been so nice.”

While the music took centre stage, there was also plenty to do on the site.

And that prompted one couple to tie the knot at the inflatable chapel. On Saturday competition winners Michelle Slater and William Colville were surrounded by their loved ones to become man and wife.

And on Sunday Caroline Brown proposed to partner Christine Mowbray on stage.

Among the revellers were Provost Dennis Melloy and his wife Libby.

He said: “There is a really happy, family atmosphere and the weather has been great.

“It’s another great event for Perth and Kinross and long may it continue.” * More pictures: pages 24 and 25.
