Shakespearean performance at RSPB Loch Leven

-

Unseasonal romance is on the cards at a Kinross-shire nature reserve this week.

The Festival Players Theatre Company is set to return to RSPB Loch Leven for a dramatic summer evening performance of Shakespeare’s The Winter’sTale.

The outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s late romance will take place on Thursday, July 26 at the nature reserve.

Written in Shakespeare’s later years, The Winter’s Tale is a mix of drama and comedy, and will be presented in full costume by an all-male company.

Sparked by an obsessive envy, Leontes King of Sicilia sets in motion a series of events which will affect two separate kingdoms for two generations. Full of jealousy, joy, revenge, romance, loss and discovery, the tale concludes with an amazing revelation.

Rachel Gooday, visitor experience officer at RSPB Loch Leven, said she is looking forward to the performance.

She said:“It’s brilliant to have the festival players returning to Loch Leven once again.

“The beautiful loch view provides a great backdrop to the performance - which this year I believe even includes a bear - perfect entertainment for a summer’s evening and a unique event that’s not to be missed.” The Winter’s Tale is at 7pm on Thursday, July 26. Tickets are £13.50, children £8 from EventBrite or by calling the nature reserve on 01577 862355.

Audience members are encouraged to bring their own seating, picnic, rugs, and warm waterproof clothing.
