Around 100 lots are going under the hammer at a charity auction in Perth on Thursday.

The auction at the Royal George Hotel is organised by members of the St John’s Kirk Stewardship Campaign and will have local auctioneer Nick Burns looking for bids on pictures, silverware military medals and various collectables.

Money made from the sale will feed into the kitty to pay for daily expenses at St John’s Kirk, like lighting, heating and insurance.

It’s hoped around

Spoons £3,000 will be raised from the auction but as more donations come in, the total may be higher.

An interesting lot to be sold on Thursday is a set of six silver teaspoons, hallmarked Robert Keay. Made in 1780, Keay was a respected Fair City silversmith and it is fitting they come on to the market to support the Perth Kirk.

Viewing will be from 9.30am, with the sale beginning at 11am.

Items that have been donated to the auction include a first edition book of The Poems of Ossian from 1787, Vasart glass and a 1960s Dewar’s Whisky Lamp.

More unusual items could be added between now and Thursday to help raise money for the stewardship campaign.
