The summer signing nodded home a first half winner for the Perth side in Saturday’s tough Betfred Cup encounter away at Montrose.

It was a goal which moves Saints up to second in the group ahead of tonight’s McDiarmid Park match against Falkirk.

Watt, who was deployed up top alongside David McMillan, would love to piece together an early season run of goals.

Speaking after the Montrose win, he said: “It’s never going to be an easy game coming up here.

“People think it’s an easy game because you’re a Premiership team and they are a League One team.

“We got the goal and then I think we controlled 60-70 per cent of the game but obviously they are a good team, they’ve got a winning mentality as shown last year.

“They showed us how they can play but we got the job done and now we are on five points and we’ve still got two games left.

“I can still do more, I know that, but I’m just happy to get the goal.

“Sometimes it takes a while to get it and after scoring in my first start hopefully I can keep adding to it.

“Whatever the manager wants from me I’ll try and do, if that’s what gets me on the park.

“I’m happy to get 55 minutes going into Tuesday and hopefully I play in that game.”
