Perth Road Runner Gillian Smith tested her endurance at the Run The Blades 50k Ultra this week.

The determined Fair City athlete completed the course - set exclusivel­y within Whitelee Wind Farm - in a competitiv­e time of 5:57:45.

Stewart Reid also took part in the event, completing the half marathon distance in 1:42:18.

Also on his travels was Peter Ritchie, who ran a local half marathon in Jura, where he came second out of four runners in a time of 2:05.

Closer to home, a group of nine Perth Road Runners tackled the Crombie Park 10k - a fundraiser for Special Olympics Tayside to support athletes with intellectu­al disabiliti­es to attend the Special Olympics GB Anniversar­y Games 2018.

The untimed event was completed by Douglas Robertson, Alan Watson, Rhona Watson, Sue Ternent, Richard Ward, Maria Dale, Kirsty Johnston, Kate Marshall and Paul Grace.

At the North Inch, Lorraine McPherson led the way for the club’s females at the Perth parkrun this week and was the first female overall in 20:44.

Laurie Carruthers was the second green vest home and fourth overall in 22:44, followed by Gillian Edwards in a time of 22:55.

In total, fifty-nine Perth members completed the route in very humid conditions.

A familiar one, two, three saw Mike McConnell in 16:41, Kev Riddell in 17:46 and Mike Soutar 17:54 lead the way for the men.

Also at Perth, Olivia Streatfeil­dJames bagged a PB time of 23:17.

Picking up his second PB in three weeks was Jim Brown with 25:11.

Sue Jones competed at Ayr finishing up as the second female overall in 27:01.

At Ganavan Sands Anne Stewart was also the sole Perth representa­tive and completed the course in 39:42.

Mark Dunn finished the Victoria parkrun in Glasgow in a time of 19:06.

And completing the parkrun tourism this week was Catriona Liddell who ran at Elgin and came home in 24:40.
