It’s a double victory for Hunter

-

Hunter Williamson secured a double race win in Perth Sailing Club’s latest outing.

The first of the short series of races, sponsored by PC Solutions of Perth, was sailed on Saturday morning.

Four boats took to the water in cloudy but warm and dry conditions with a light westerly force 1-2 breeze which increased to 2-3 during the race.

It was a clean start with Hunter leading the pack, followed by Robin MacArthur crewed by Vicky Wright, then Jacob McCauley helming a Laser.

Hunter, having been in front early doors, encountered a navigational problem which allowed Robin and Andrew Porteous to claw back time.

But the resilient sailor was soon back in the thick of the action and had regained his lead during the second round of the course.

And by the final round he had opened up a substantial lead to cross the finish line in first place.

The same four boats entered the second race of the day with a clean start.

Positions were swapping en route to the first mark with the wind variable and gusting.

With all boats favouring the north shore, Hunter extended his lead at the second mark and was followed by Andrew.

The officer of the day allowed a fourth lap to be sailed due to the suitable conditions.

And first over the line was Hunter, followed by Andrew with Robin and Vicky claiming third position.

Results after handicap: Saturday, July 21 - Race 1 - 1st Whoof (H Williamson), 2nd Whooper (A Porteous), 3rd Laser (J McCauley). Race 2 - 1st Whoof (H Williamson), 2nd Whooper (A Porteous), 3rd Laser (J McCauley).
