Perthshire artist Tim Cracknell at work on a sculpture in his Glenlyon studio A Perthshire artist exhibited a bronze sculpture at a prestigious summer exhibition and was delighted to sell the work — on the very last day of the month-long showcase.

Tim Cracknell has gone back to creating sculptures after a 20year break.

He moved to Glenlyon after a long time in London and his inspiration to work again came with the move up north.

The second piece he finished at the end of last year was a study of the lower half of a face, the lips and chin of a female model. The ‘Green Head’ was cast and Tim entered it for the Royal Scottish Academy’s 2018 open exhibition Every June-July, the RSA’s Lower Galleries showcases a wide range of contemporary artwork selected through open submission, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints, films and photography. Tim said: “I got an email the day before it came to a close on July 25 that I should come and collect my work. “For me just being lucky enough to be selected to be in it was satisfaction enough. “But then the following day, when I was all set to go to pick it up in Edinburgh, I got another email saying ‘don’t bother coming, the work has sold’. For £4000. “I was over the moon. I never expected that. “Now I’m fired up to get more sculptures away to be cast, it’s a very expensive business and that last minute sale has given me what I need to progress.”
