Work underway to give city hall new lease of life
Work began yesterday on redeveloping Perth City Hall into a major new visual arts venue.
On Monday, July 30, contractors began carrying out bore hole tests on the north side of the iconic building.
This will take one week, before the contractors move onto the south side of the building next week.
A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council said: “If you’re around the City Hall in Perth city centre this week you might spot some activity around the building. From today (Monday, July 30) our contractor will be conducting bore hole tests on the north side of the building for one week. Then the same testing will move to the south side of the building for another week.
“Inside the building the central floor is also being removed as part of various other internal structural investigations.
“You’ll also spot various skips on site, and welfare facilities for the contractors on the south side within the temporary fencing up around the building.
“The internal surveys are expected to take six to eight weeks.
“This is all part of the ongoing work to transform Perth City Hall into a new visual arts attraction for the city.”
A public event is also set to take place next month to give members of the public more updates on the project. Work is progressing on Perth City Hall
