Course offer to businesses

- Rachel Clark

Creative businesses in Perth and Kinross are being encouraged to apply for the elevator business accelerator.

The new Famous Grouse ideas centre accelerator, which is based in Perth’s AK Bell Library, is designed to support creative businesses in the region who want to grow.

Applications for the accelerator are now open and will close on Sunday, August 5.

A panel will decide which businesses go forward to the 12-week programme, which begins on Monday, September 17. The course will look at business modelling, goal-setting, market identification, growth and exit strategies.

Caryn Gibson, accelerator manager for Perth, said: “Perth is one of the most enterprising communities in Scotland and its position in the heart of the country makes it the perfect base for aspiring entrepreneurs to launch their business in the creative sector.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming ambitious business leaders on to the accelerator where they will be challenged and supported to unlock their full growth and investor potential.”

Ian Potter, from Light Press Media and Design, added: “The accelerator programme has really helped me to shape my business and move it on to a place I thought would take years. The skills, practice and techniques that have been taught are invaluable and I don’t know what I did before I had them.

“It has inspired confidence in my ability, brand and capability to create a stronger business moving forward.”
