Audio guide to loch tourist trail
Tourists at a picturesque loch will be able to learn more about the area through a new audio tour.
Loch Earn Tourism Information Group’s new audio tour has won an award and been featured on a popular tourism app.
The audio tour guides tourists around Loch Earn, bringing together its art, architecture and community.
Called the Bliss trail, it links the villages of Balquhidder, Lochearnhead, Strathyre and St Fillans. It won an innovation in tourism award at this year’s Thistle Awards.
Visitscotland has also endorsed the audio tour, saying it will encourage more visitors to area, and it has been added as an official location on the world map and talk to global audiences via mobile app and GPS technology.”
Kim continued: “Geotourist has given us the opportunity to collaborate with sculptors, students, business members and other partners who have recorded unique stories surrounding the art installations.
“We look forward to welcoming more visitors to see our awardwinning innovative art trail and now to hear a variety of fascinating Bliss trail stories too.”
The tour includes artwork and design installations around Loch Earn, including Airliephant, a miniature mill house, stag, totem pole and an old red phone box.
Shaon Talukder of Geotourist said: “The celebrated Bliss Trail tour is an important addition to our map. The tour underpins the opportunities that exist when communities with a common goal come together.
“We’re delighted to see the tour extend across the Loch Earn region and Rob Roy country.
“Kim Proven understands how individuals and small businesses can work together to create something where there was nothing.
“In this case the trail physically draws visitors through the region, ensuring that they can access all the sculpture and public art as a whole piece.
“People can digitally immerse themselves in the tour, whether they are right in front of any of the pieces or on the other side of the world, and listen to stories shared by the artists themselves or local community members involved in the project.”
