Jeanfield off to a Swift start as seniors
Jeanfield Swifts made the perfect start to life in the senior ranks – but manager Ross Gunnion is not getting carried away.
The Perth side’s first competitive game of the season ended in an impressive 2-0 Qualifying League Cup win away at Bo’ness United.
Summer signings Paul Simpson and Chris Dodd netted either side of half-time to give the Riverside squad an early boost.
Boss Gunnion was thrilled with how his players performed at Newtown Park.
“I thought the performance overall was very good in terms of the effort and attitude of the team,”he told the Perthshire Advertiser.
“There was a real desire and hunger shown from the front line right through to the goalkeeper.
“Overall we created more than Bo’ness and made ourselves incredibly hard to break down when they had the ball. And I’m sure they would agree we probably deserved the victory.
“It was pleasing to see the new signings getting on the scoresheet but both goals were as a result of the team being disciplined and working together to force mistakes.
“We’re well aware that it’s only the first game of the season and we won’t get carried away.
“The players know that the level of effort applied is the absolute minimum required in every game.
“We have work to do in respect of capitalising on good opportunities as I felt we were a little wasteful at times. But
