Major disruption as works delayed

Motorists have been hit with 45-minute long queues in Perth after delays to roadworks.

Cars have been queued up, meaning motorists are waiting 45 minutes to get from Inveralmon­d to the city centre - a journey that normally takes less than 10 minutes.

However, the works have been delayed and will now go on into next week, leaving more traffic disruption for motorists coming in and out of the city.

A spokespers­on for Perth and Kinross Council said:“the road maintenanc­e works taking place on Dunkeld road in Perth will be completed next week.

“the works were due to be completed on sunday, August 5, but there was a slight delay due to the location of undergroun­d services.

“the works include the refurbishm­ent of traffic lights, which will be made operationa­l on Friday, August 10, and footway/carriagewa­y resurfacin­g.

“temporary three-way traffic lights are in place to assist and are manually controlled throughout the day in an attempt to reduce the impact of the works.”

the spokespers­on added:“We would like to take this opportunit­y to apologise for any inconvenie­nce caused by the works and thank you for your cooperatio­n.”

the roadworks are now expected to be completed by Friday, August 10, and temporary traffic lights will be in place until the works are finished.
