Continued Social therapies for carers Therapy sessions will be held on Monday, August 6, and the first Monday of every month from 10.15am to 1.30pm in Loch Leven community campus. Carers can choose from a variety of different therapies; enjoy a 45 minute treatment and have the opportunit­y to socialise with other carers or speak to one of the support workers, Gail Boath or Annette Bond. Bookings will be open a week prior to the therapy date. Therapies are free of charge, but a small donation would be appreciate­d. The competitio­n is free and is aimed at children aged 14 years and under, with prizes given for the best scarecrow. Entrants should take their scarecrows along to Kinross showfield, at RSPB Loch Leven by 11am on the day of the show, Saturday, August 11. All entries must be removed by 5pm after the show. Kinross-shire Agricultur­al Show The show ground at the RSPB Loch Leven will be open at 7am on Saturday, August 11. Entry costs £10 for adults/£7 for concession­s; children under 16 are free. Parking costs £2; a free bus service will be provided for the show only. Route one: Royal Bank building in Milnathort, to Rowland Pharmacy, Kinross, turning right along Station Road to the Park and Ride; returning back along Station Road and turning right down through Kinross High Street to the show. This service starts at 10.30am. Route two: Channel Farm car park, turning right past the Balgeddie Toll; continuing through Kinnesswoo­d, through Scotlandwe­ll, straight down the road, turning right and along the south side of Loch Leven to the show. The service starts at 11am. The last bus will leave the show site at 6.45pm. Whinnybank Cat Sanctuary The dry weather has brought many hedgehogs into the barns who have been eating the cats’ meat and biscuits. Sue recently found them sleeping in the cats’ beds during the day. However, the recent rain has allowed them to go back to eating their usual diet of slugs, worms, etc so, hopefully they will leave until they are ready to hibernate. Sue and kitten fosterer Linda, have both worked hard over the past six weeks on a litter of kittens who had contracted feline enteritis. Sadly they lost one kitten, but the other five are now well and happily homed. There are still three kittens and Boring Winery and Boring Brewing Co will supply the beer garden to relax in, while the Boring and Dull Ensemble, a three-man group of pipes and drums, play traditiona­l Scottish Highland music “to honour our friends in Dull, Scotland”.

Moulin Hall Trust Coffee morning on Saturday, August 11, 10am until noon in Moulin Hall. Entry £2.50. Football Pre-season training is now well under way at Vale of Atholl. The club will play their first friendly tomorrow away to Forfar West End. Training will continue for the moment on Wednesdays at the recreation ground in Pitlochry at 6.30pm.
