Growing bra firm is going up a size

Expansion plans to keep up with demand

- Staff reporter

An award-winning business which started life in Rattray is looking for new members of staff.

Molke, which sells rainbowbright underwear to women across the world, was set up by Kirsty Lunn and Ros Marshall in a spare room in Kirsty’s house.

It has grown significantly over the last 12 months and the entrepreneurs now need to expand their team to keep up with demand for their range of ethical and sustainable bras and pants.

And the team is also moving to new, larger premises on the outskirts of Perth, which will also have a shop and a fitting room, in a few weeks.

Designer Kirsty said: “This is a really exciting time for the business and we have lots of plans to grow and develop with new lines and new premises lined up for the coming months.

“We only started a year ago – we’re celebrating our first birthday this week – and didn’t think we would have come as far as we have in such a short space of time.

“Although we are growing as a business, we want to stay in Perthshire. We love it here.

“When we were first setting up we received so much help, advice and support from GrowBiz. We are so lucky to have a resource like that on our doorstep.

“It is really important for us to be able to put something back into the community which we came from and we are very passionate about bringing employment to the local area while taking on the world from Perthshire.”

Molke distributes bras and pants to customers all over the world, with North America their largest market after the UK.

Kirsty said: “We believe that women of all shapes and sizes deserve to be catered for and I think we are one of the few companies in the world to make underwear in the range of sizes that we do, everything from band size 26 to 46 and up to cup size P.

“We reflect women in society. All our models are our customers and they are happy to model for us because they love our products

Molke directors Ros Marshall and Kirsty Lunn with Provost Dennis Melloy so much. And because of that we have customers from all over the world.

“But we need to keep up with the phenomenal demand we are experiencing and are currently looking for at least two machinists, possibly three, ideally full-time but we’d be willing to discuss part-time hours too.

“There is a real shortage of machinists at the moment and we would be willing to train the right people who will complement our team, all of whom are passionate about bringing happy boobs to as many women of all ages, shapes and sizes as possible. In the next few weeks we will also be looking to take on more admin staff as well.”
