Duncan takes fourth at 5k Masters

Perth Road Runners have been flying the flag for the club on a local and national level this week.

Duncan Ryan laced up his running shoes to take part in the Scottish 5k Masters Championsh­ips at Scotstoun in Glasgow.

In very hot conditions, he secured fourth in his category with a personal best time of 17:23.

Further north, 43 green vests headed to Ballater in Aberdeensh­ire for the most recent race in the championsh­ip series.

The on and off road race provided a tough test but Stuart Robertson made light work of the 10-mile route.

He was first home for the Perth club and fifth overall in 59:40, also securing himself second V40.

Duncan Ryan followed as third V40 and seventh overall seconds later in a time of 59:46.

Kevin Riddell in 1:01:06, Kevin Rogers in 1:05:25 and James Fotheringh­am in 1:05:38 completed the line-up for the men.

And for the Perth women, Claire

Perth Road Runners were well represente­d in Ballater Douglas was first home in 1:15:42. the 26.2 mile run in 4:28:43.

Diane White finished second FV50 in Invitation­al Race Series. 1:20:51, Maria Dale was first FV60 in A different club is invited through to 1:29:35 and Margaret McIntosh was participat­e in the short but fast third FV60 in 1:39:49. challenge every month.

Elsewhere, Julie Ramsay was the sole Rogers in 5:27, Ronnie Glen 5:30, representa­tive at the Fort William Richard Ward 5:36, Grant Wooler 6:03, Marathon on Sunday. She completed Lorraine MacPherson 6:11, Karen Christie 7:38, Susan Bothwell 9:03 and Alan Bothwell 9:31.

Parkrun tourism continues through the summer for the club.

Anne Stewart ran Fort William in 44:04 while Kevin Rogers and Gillian Smith ran Plean parkrun in 20:26 and 28:20 respective­ly.

Garry Marshall and Kate Marshall ran Aviemore parkrun in 30:10 and 31:21.

And Stuart Neillands was at Camperdown parkrun in Dundee to complete the 5k in 26:10.

Back home in Perth there were 43 Perth Road Runners at the North Inch for the local free 5k.

Greig Simpson was first home for the club and first overall in 17:22. Michael Souter was next and sixth overall in 18:20.

For the club’s ladies it was Lorraine MacPherson who returned first, fourth overall, in 22:17.

She was followed by Gillian Edwards in 22:23 and Fiona Manson in 23:42.

A special mention went to Caroline Jones who made her return to parkrun after the birth of baby James.

Caroline and James completed the 5k route in 53:27.
