Public display on plans for retirement homes
People in Kinross are being encouraged to attend an exhibition next week to learn more about plans to build more retirement homes near the town centre.
Bournemouth-based McCarthy and Stone is proposing to build enough sheltered accommodation to house another 36 retired individuals or couples at the site of the Windlestrae Hotel on The Muirs.
The company reckons the planned development will revive what it regards as an “under utilised” site as well as tie in with other retirement flats it has already built on the other side of the road at The Sycamores.
The development will comprise a mix of bungalows/cottages with

A spokesperson for McCarthy and Stone said ahead of the next week’s exhibition: “McCarthy and Stone believe that people in their leisure years should have access to a wide range of housing options and that downsizing to a new home should be a positive experience, not a compromise.
“Our homes are specifically designed to meet the needs of people in later life, helping them maintain an active, independent lifestyle in a safe and secure environment.
“Our retirement living developments are restricted to occupation by people over the age of 60, with the average age of our homeowners in Scotland being 75.
“Homeowners have their own front door and privacy and are free to join in community activities, or to pursue their own interests, as they please.”
The exhibition is being held at the town’s Masonic Hall this coming Wednesday from 2pm and 7pm and members of the company’s development team will be there throughout that time to answer any questions people have about the scheme.
