The Confederation of Passenger Transport UK (CPT) conferred the honour on Scotland’s oldest working distillery at a presentation this week.

The status is designed to reward tourist attractions that go the extra mile to provide a warm welcome to groups arriving by coach.

John Laurie, general manager at The Famous Grouse Experience, said: “This announcement is fantastic news and means we are well placed to encourage coach tourism into the area for the benefit of all our local businesses.”

Jeremy Tinsley from CPT said:“Coaches play a vital role in Scottish tourism. Approximately eight per cent of all domestic and 34 per cent of all international visitors opt to travel by coach during their stay in Scotland.

“The distillery has welcomed coach groups for many years and is a must-see for coaches visiting or transiting the area. They offer excellent facilities including a dedicated parking area for coaches which is close to the distillery and well signposted. Drivers are also catered for with complimentary refreshments and access to the restaurant rest area.”
