McCabe eyes quick return for the Swifts

-

St Johns manager Carle is hoping to lead his side to success this season Jeanfield Swifts are determined to bounce back to the top of Perthshire Amateur Football.

The Riverside-based squad finished bottom of the pile in Division One last season but have plans for a quick return.

Swifts will be one of the favourites for the Smart Fixings Division Two title.

Manager Scott McCabe said: “We’re delighted with how it’s gone so far. The fitness is getting there and the boys are taking on board how we want to play this season.

“The aim is 100 per cent to get promoted and with the boys we’ve added I think anything else is considered a failure.

“Last season was a massive let down.

“Everything went wrong and, with most of the squad staying on, they’ve got a lot to prove to themselves and to the club.

“They started pre-season showing that they are willing to make the effort to put things right from last season.

“The confidence is high going into the first game of the season.”

Swifts are aware that there will be a fight for the Division Two title but they won’t be focusing on the opposition.

“I think all we can do is focus on ourselves,” McCabe said. “There are a few good teams in the league, who we expect to be challenging.

“But if we play the football we can, hopefully that should see us come out where we need to be at the end of the season.”
