Fight for places will aid Saints, says Tanser
Scott Tanser reckons the competition for places in defence will give St Johnstone a boost this season.
Captain Joe Shaughnessy could make a return this weekend after recovering from a knee wound picked up earlier in the summer.
Full-back Tanser said: “We’ve got plenty of options because Liam Gordon and Jason Kerr have being doing well.
“With Joe coming back in, it makes the team and the defence stronger.
“There’s going to be good competition but whoever plays will do a good job.
“Everyone is a captain on the pitch but one person can wear the armband.
“Joe is a great choice, is vocal and brings everyone together.”
Tanser hopes Saints can be a dominant force at home this season, adding:“All we can do is get the fans on our side by playing exciting football.
“We want them to cheer us on and get behind us.”
