Residents’ furywith council overbins

-

expressed fury with some asking what right the local authority had to remove bins without saying.

One outraged resident wrote: “My green [bin] has vanished - I thought someone had nicked it.

“They would complain if I started dumping my binbags in the street. I will be on the phone to them at 9am.”

Another complained: “They took my purple bin. I don’t know why. They are looking into it.”

Another said: “They took my neighbours and when confronted they put it back, but if I hadn’t seen them do it my neighbour wouldn’t have a green bin now.”

One exasperated resident added: “Why don’t they give people folk a break - every month there’s a new rule for the bins.”

Another complained: “We have a purple lidded bin.

“We were told if we weren’t recycling properly we could lose the bin.”

And another wrote: “They didn’t empty our recycling bin last week. I went to bring it in and opened it to find three bags of someone else’s rubbish in it!”

Responding to the recent controversy a council spokesperson commented: “The council’s community waste team are currently working in the North Muirton area of Perth to identify and tackle any waste related issues.

“As part of this work, the council have removed any second greenlidded general waste bins presented for collection by a household.”

The spokesperson added: “Additional general waste bins are available for households who meet the criteria based on household size, number of children in nappies, and other reasons, but these have a different coloured lid.

“Details of the additional general waste bin criteria is available at www.pkc.gov.uk/secondbins”
