Attacks on the A&E service must stop

-

In his article in the PA, August 7, 2018, Murdo Fraser MSP considers the situation regarding A&E services at Perth Royal Infirmary, as he quite rightly states, we could have A&E in name only.

I would hate to see that and I am sure many more are with me.

One month ago I attended the neurology department of King’s Cross in Dundee, and the question arose in my mind: “Why not the PRI?”

Twice in the past I have attended neurology in Perth, which is ideal with living in Bankfoot, as there is a good bus service and a regular bus from Mill Street, Perth to the PRI.

When at King’s Cross I was told I would have to have an MRI scan and I requested that this be done in Perth, my request was granted and I was assured my scan would be done at PRI.

I could not believe it when my appointment letter arrived, I had to attend Ninewells Hospital, Dundee at 9am on a Sunday morning.

Sunday of all days, with no means of getting there.

It does annoy me that I was assured I was going to get Perth, but had to attend Dundee.

We have a very good hospital in Perth, it has served Perth and Perthshire adequately for many years, but slowly and effectively they are chipping away at Perth for Dundee.

People in Perth and Perthshire it is time to make your stand to preserve a good hospital. Thomas Brown Garry Place Bankfoot nation, and with separation from the UK outvoted in 2014, was not a separate item in the 1970s referendum or the voting papers in 2016.

He and his party claim that continued EU membership would be in Scotland’s best interests, clearly a policy to support Scotland’s differentiation from the nations down south.

However, there is no prospect of Scotland’s membership, on any favourable terms, being allowed by the EU, possibly because of decline in our wealth in oil revenues.

The EU has transmuted from a Common Market to a rigid, imperialistic, organisation. That was always its covert intention, seeking its own military forces and obliteration of its nation states as political entities. We did not join the present, radically changed, EU by modern voting processes but undemocratic inveiglement by politicians.

The UK must now grasp the opportunities provided by leaving for control of our laws, finances and borders. The EU is crumbling, with many of its constituent nations very unhappy with its present prospects and policies, dominated by France and Germany.

Whether Mr Burgess accepts it or not, a UK majority for leaving the EU and a Scottish majority for a continued UK are the result of democratic votes. Name and address supplied Name and address supplied
