Scone Palace is named top site for dogs

Scone Palace has been named one of the most pet-friendly places to visit in the world, and voted animal lovers’ favourite in Scotland.

The historic Perthshire attraction came in the top 20 favourite places for pets in a poll of more than 10,000 people in 130 countries.

Scone Palace was named in the top seven of the UK’s most pet-friendly places and outranked several other famous Scottish locations, making it the animal lovers’favourite in Scotland.

TrustedHousesitters, the world’s largest house and pet sitting company, asked its users to vote for the best places in the world to take pets.

Scone Palace won the accolade for its spectacular location and dog-friendly attitude.

The venue boasts acres of beautiful woodland gardens for dogs to run around in, an outside seating area at the front of the palace, and plenty of drinking stations dotted throughout the grounds.

Margo Baird, marketing manager at Scone Palace, said: “We’re thrilled to have been recognised by TrustedHousesitters as one of the world’s top pet-friendly places.

“We do all we can to make dogs welcome here. Our acres of woodland gardens are the perfect place for dogs and their owners to spend some quality time.

“Whilst we don’t allow dogs inside the palace, visitors [with dogs] can enjoy a coffee and one of our famous scones in the outdoor seating area at the front of the Palace.

“Lord and Lady Mansfield are Norfolk terrier owners and are delighted by our nomination.”

Scone Palace is in good company - 30 of the top 100 places in the list were taken by British attractions, six of which are Scottish. The palace was named alongside Springfield Mill, Loch Ness and Newbattle Abbey.
