Smashedheadat NewYearparty

-

New Year celebrations turned to violence when a Perthshire man smashed his partner’s head against railings after a fall-out at a party.

Twenty-nine-year-old Mark Gallagher, of Chapelhill, Logiealmond, had been ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work during an earlier appearance at Perth Sheriff Court.

And a Community Payback Review was told this week that the work had been completed, despite initial difficulties, although a supervision aspect of the order remained in force.

The accused admitted pulling Catriona Glass by the hair in Perth’s Leonard Street on January 1, 2017, and striking her head, to her injury.

Depute fiscal Carol Whyte said they had been in a relationship for eight-nine months and had gone out on Hogmanay to celebrate New Year.

They were at a house party in Perth’s Leonard Street and about 3am the accused had gone outside.

She went out to speak to him but he then assaulted her.

Fortunately she escaped with bruising and no medical treatment was required.

The female had been taken home following the incident but she had then reported it to police on January 3.

Sheriff Gillian Wade allowed the Community Payback Order to continue to its conclusion, without any further reviews.
