Chef bombarded ex with calls

- Court reporter

A Perth chef landed in the soup when he repeatedly flouted a court order banning him from communicating with his ex-partner.

Perth Sheriff Court was told that 28-year-old Aaron McMillan had been told not to get in touch with Nicola McCormack in any way.

But on April 28, while she was in Glasgow with a friend, she had 90 missed calls from a withheld number.

“She answered one of these and it was the voice of the accused,”explained depute fiscal Michael Sweeney.

“He was berating her for her lifestyle.”

Two days later, she got nine missed calls and when she answered one, discovered it was the accused“on the other end of the phone.”

On that occasion he was complaining about losing his job and told her to“stop contacting the police.”

But the conversation took a more threatening turn when he said:“I’m gonna grab you.

“I dinnae even ken what I’m gonna dae yet. I cannae trust mysel comin near you.”

Ms McCormack told him she was going to“continue” to get in touch with the police and he chillingly replied:“Wait and see what happens if I get remanded”

The fiscal added:“She was worried by that and contacted the police.

McMillan, previously of Kinnoull Street, Perth, and now working at Kintail Lodge, Kyle of Lochalsh, was ordered to be suipervised by a social worker for the next 15 months.

He will also have to take part in any programmes deemed necessary to address the issues he has.

He admitted that on April 28 this year, having been given an undertaking to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on May 4 and being subject to conditions not to get in touch with Nicola McCormack in any way, he repeatedly contacted her. chef made calls to ex

A second charge alleges that he sent her messages from Perth’s Glenearn Road on April 30 this year was also admitted.

Solicitor David Holmes said:“The accused acknowledges his behaviour was wrong and he expresses remorse.”

He had encountered family difficulties and “things got out of hand.”

Imposing a Community Payback Order, Sheriff Gillian Wade said:“Clearly this was very unfortunate and would have been extremely worrying for your partner.”

She noted he had earlier spent three nights in custody in relation to the calls he had made.
