Familiar faces are sole of new store
Dawn Smith and Eleanor Aitken A new quality shoe shop offering a truly unique shopping experience opened its doors this week.
The Shoe Shop of Auchterarder on the High Street welcomed its first customers on Wednesday, offering top name brands and a service people can rely on.
Trusted brands such as Ara, Gabor, HB, Barker and Reiker line the shelves of the shop, along with a range of accessories, handbags and shoe cleaning products.
And the retail guru behind the new shop is Eleanor Aitken, who has been selling shoes to the residents of the Lang Toon for more than 15 years.
Eleanor, who is Auchterarder born and bred, said: “I am really looking forward to opening the shop.
“I have been in the shoe trade for a long time and we have quality brands and the service is something we pride ourselves on.
“There is a wide variety on offer and we can help people pick out the right shoe for them.
“In large shops you can see rakes of the same thing but here you are getting a more bespoke experience.”
And experience is something the staff at The Shoe Shop of Auchterarder have in droves.
Eleanor and her team of experts have all come from D&R Johnston, which closed in the town earlier this year after decades of popularity. Inside the new shop
She said: “I have taken all the girls with me to the new shop so it will all be familiar faces. It is fabulous to have such an established team.
“We have all been in the shoe business for a long time and have years of experience.”
And the first customers through the door were ahead of the fashion as Eleanor already has an autumn collection in store.
“I have waited until now to open up so we can get the autumn collection out”, she explained.
“I love boots myself because they go with all fashions and can be dressed up and dressed down. You get so much wear out of a pair of boots.
“We also have a lot of waterproof boots for the winter and slippers but we are getting deliveries all the time.”
Eleanor took over a retail unit which has been lying empty in the middle of the town for a number of years.
A lot of hard work has gone into refurbishing the shop and bringing it up to the high standard Eleanor expects.
She said: “Everyone is excited because this was an empty unit for a number of years.
“This is a new beginning for us with quality shoes and quality service with a smile.
“We are back up and running in Auchterarder, so come and see us.”
The Shoe Shop of Auchterarder is open Monday to Saturday, 9am until 5pm each day.
There is also a handy car park behind the shop for customers.
