Musicians from around the globe descend on Perth
Two great events set to rock city
The sound of music will be filling the city this weekend, with a number of events showcasing talent from across the world.
The International Youth Band Festival and the Perth City Salute will be taking place, with international musicians showcasing their skills.
More than 300 young musicians have assembled at Perth Concert Hall for the International Youth Band Festival.
Some of the bands include the elementary school affiliated to Ren Min University of China wind ensemble, the Beijing Haidian Experimental Primary School wind ensemble and Infanzia Music from Hong Kong.
The opening ceremony took place on Wednesday, featuring performances from Perth and District Pipe Band, Julie Young Dancers and Perth Youth Orchestra, as well as a number of international musicians.
The musicians have been performing every day at the concert hall since.
The closing ceremony will take place at 7.30pm tomorrow (Saturday) with renowned vocalist Fong Liu and her Harmony ensemble and Bagpipe Rockers.
Victorious bands from the festival will also be performing at the closing ceremony.
Some of the bands from the youth festival will join other performers on Sunday for the Perth City Salute.
Military bands and international performers will parade from South Inch along Tay Street to the arena on the North Inch.
Top Secret Drum Corps will be headlining the outdoor show, with other music coming from the Royal Cavalry of Oman, the Marching Band of China, the Marching Band of Mexico, Black Watch musicians and Perthshire Brass.

“The line-up for the Perth Salute is better than ever, with national and international performers sure to make the performance go with Perth and District Pipe Band will be performing
a bang. With the Crieff Highland Games also taking place on Sunday, it really is a weekend of celebration for Perthshire.”
Tickets for the International Youth Band Festival are free but it is a ticketed event.
