Heartwarming tale as purse is returned

-

Dear Sir, I would like to share a good-news story with you and your readers.

On Friday, August 10 I was shopping in St Catherine’s Retail Park when I discovered that I had lost my purse.

Upon returning to my car to search for it a young man approached me to say he had found the wallet beside my vehicle and had taken it to a nearby store; he had also left a note to that effect on my windscreen, which I had failed to see immediately.

I would like to reiterate how grateful I am to that young man, and to the staff of Halfords for keeping the purse safe.

Although it didn’t contain much of monetary value, the numerous cards would have taken time and effort to replace.

A welcome change from all the less agreeable forms of behaviour we so often hear about. Name and address supplied

Dear Sir, As if by magic since the traffic counter has been installed on Moray Street, Blackford, the lorry numbers have reduced massively, particularly at night.

Has Highland Spring closed down for summer or maintenance? Or has there been collusion between PKC, roads departments and Highland Spring to produce a small number of lorries passing through Blackford during the survey so that the traffic count is low enough to stop the push for their own entrance?

This check on the lorries going to Highland Spring is a farce. It would have to be in place for six months minimum to prove true figures.

This meter reading will no doubt prove that there is no need for an alternative to using Moray Street.

The fact is that Blackford is a village by passed 40 years ago, to reduce volume of traffic through it, and now it has become a rat run for Highland Spring’s huge lorries which are far heavier and bigger than 40 years ago. The proof is in the condition of Moray Street road and buildings. Yours Sincerely Mrs EB Coffield

Dear Sir, I agree with Murdo Fraser (PA August 7) and Thomas Brown ( PA August 14).

I attended the meeting on August 7 in Auchterarder which was extremely well attended.

My question to the panel was if I was knocked down in South Street, Perth and sustained a broken leg would I be taken to Ninewells when there are perfectly capable orthopaedic surgeons in PRI?

The answer was that I would be treated in PRI!

BUT for how long would this facility exist?

Rumour has it that after December all emergencies would go to Dundee.

Perthshire is a big county and growing all the time (housing developments mushrooming up all the time).

How on earth could Ninewells cope with all emergencies eg heart attacks, septicaemia, strokes broken bones, abdominal emergencies to name a few?

Thomas Brown is quite right. We have an excellent hospital in Perth. I have worked there and can see that the standard of care is first class!

People of Perth and Perthshire make a stand and keep our excellent hospital as it is! Isabel Wardrop, Viewlands Rd,Perth
