Coupar Angus

Church Last Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev Andy Graham and the readings were given by Ellen McGibbon from Psalm 24, verses 1-6, and Ephesians chapter four, verses 1-16. Mr Graham asked the congregation if they believed that Jesus Christ was Lord of all. Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, He came to live among us, to suffer with us, died to save us but continues even today to influence all walks of life through his spirit. At the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine the church and state were one. Today, they are separate but the church still has an important role to play in standing up for the poor, in speaking out against those aspects of society that are unfair and by promoting peace among its people. As Christians people are expected to follow Jesus, to accept that he is Lord of all and to share with others the good news of his salvation to make their life better. This is not easy and many people will face opposition, but this is not an excuse to stand back and do nothing. Instead, do not be embarrassed to actively reach out to others and spread the Gospel of Jesus, which is there for everyone. So, this coming week, people should ask themselves if they accept that

The committee wants to hear residents’ views about the plans to acquire the schoolhouse and form a community centre. This is a big idea for the village and aims to provide both the facilities that people need, as well as clubs and other services and activities. The plans include the reorganisation of the village hall from a charitable association to a charitable incorporated organisation. This change will have a number of benefits for the community.
