Author feeling festive as new book hits shelves

Fairy tale gets readers in mood for Christmas

- Melanie Bonn

A Dunkeld-based author is all ready for Christmas – or at least her latest book is.

‘The Fairy in the Kettle’s Christmas Wish’ is the second children’s book by Pauline Tait.

It will hit the shelves from August 24, although it is available to preorder now.

Aimed at four to eight year-olds, the beautifully illustrated picture book follows on from her debut last year, ‘The Fairy in the Kettle’.

The first book in the series received four and five star reviews and has been praised for promoting kindness, thoughtfulness and being true to yourself.

Pauline has many years experience as a primary learning support assistant and lives a few miles outside Dunkeld and was born and brought up in Blairgowrie.

‘The Christmas Wish’ follows the imaginative adventures of Leona the fairy, who wonders if she’ll manage to get her home decorated in time for Christmas.

It again uses the work of illustrator Debbie Bellaby to give a playful visual style to Leona’s adventures in Bramble Glen.

And with this story just off the press, author Pauline is delighted that she is now working on the third book in the series which is due to come out next year.

She explained: “I’ve had an extremely busy 18 months since the first instalment took off, including appearing at Waterstone’s events.

“I have also been busy doing

A tale for Christmas. Inset author Pauline Tait school and library events, which are always fun and it is fantastic to get the chance to encourage children to read and write more.

“Now I have more events in the pipeline for my second book in the run up to Christmas.”

‘The Fairy in the Kettle’s Christmas Wish’ can be bought in Waterstone’s Perth or available as an ebook.

It is 28 pages in length and costs £8.99.
