A dispute with a neighbour resulted in a drunken Perth man leaving his mark on the other person’s front door.

Perth Sheriff Court was told that Barrie Cameron was heard running up the stairs and kicking the door, leaving a footprint below the letterbox.

There was also undisclosed damage to the door.

Cameron, of Stanley Crescent, kept his freedom when he appeared for sentence this week, despite his “atrocious record.”

Instead, he was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work within three months and will be supervised by a social worker for the next two years.

He admitted acting in an aggressive manner on April 28, 2018, and kicking an upstairs neighbour’s door.

Depute fiscal Michael Sweeney said there had been“tension”within the block of flats between the accused and his neighbour.

Around 10.50, another neighbour heard shouting in the close, looked out of her spyhole and saw him going up the stairs.

“Thereafter she heard a loud bang and looked out again and saw him running towards the door.”

Solicitor Linda Clark said:“They are not neighbours in close proximity any longer and this was a one-off incident.”

The accused had been drinking to excess and the incident was of“short duration.”

Noting that the accused had stayed out of trouble for a year after being freed from a lengthy jail term in 2017, Sheriff Gillian Wade imposed the Community Payback Order.

But she warned Cameron:“If the order is breached, you can expect your liberty to be taken away again.”
