Manincourtover CrieffRoadattack

-

A 27-year-old Perth man denied carrying out a sustained and brutal attack on another man at his home when he appeared on indictment at the sheriff court this week.

And it is alleged that the offence, which involved the use of a knife and binding the other man’s wrists and ankles, was carried out by prejudice relating to sexual orientation.

Graham Palmer, of Drummond Crescent, is set to face trial before a jury on November 12 this year.

The incident is said to have taken place at a house in the city’s Crieff Road on December 3 last year.

Palmer is said to have seized Christopher Grant by the throat, pinned him against a door and placed a knife against his neck.

He is then said to have repeatedly demanded money from him, struggled with him, forced him to the ground and sat on him.

It is then claimed that Palmer instructed the victim to crawl, repeatedly kicked him on the body and bound his wrists and ankles with cables.

Palmer is also accused of brandishing a blade at the other man, striking him on the face with it and abducting him.

The charge further alleges that the accused demanded that Mr Grant remove his clothing, detained him in the property against his will, all to his injury, and robbed him of a bank card.

The trial is expected to last four days and Palmer was freed on bail.
