Yarn festival set to be bigger and better

-

The popular Perth Festival of Yarn returns again next month.

The two-day celebration will take place in Dewars Centre on Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9, with organisers saying they have expanded on last year’s festival.

Led by festival director Eva Christie, it will feature boutique businesses, sheep farmers and those practising fibre arts together with a large marketplace, classes and lectures.

Festival goers are expected from across the world, with almost 80 vendors in this year’s marketplace, including stall holders from France, Germany, Spain and Greece.

This year, classes will be led by a number of internationally respected tutors, including Karie Westermann and Janice Anderson. The keynote lecture will be given by Fiona Wemyss of The Wemyss School of Needlework, which dates back to the 17th Century.

And The Knitter Podcast Lounge will also make a welcome return, where festival-goers can meet their favourite textile crafting bloggers and podcasters throughout the weekend.

The event’s sponsor, The Knitter Magazine, is just one of a number expected at the podcast lounge.

Last year’s festival was nominated for the best UK knitting show in the prestigious British Knitting and Crochet Awards.

Advance tickets are available online from www. perthfestivalofyarn.uk until 8pm on Tuesday, September 4.

Day entry tickets will then be available on the door for £12 and under 16s free.
