OK to Rattray sun rooms
Housebuyers planning to move into a new development in Rattray will now be able to request they get a sun room.
Councillors sitting on Perth and Kinross Council’s planning and development management committee have said some of the 138 houses planned for Glenalmond Road in Rattray can include sun rooms, should house buyers wish.
As the original planning consent granted for the Rattray houses did not include plans for sun rooms, a fresh planning application needed to be submitted.
Anne Condliffe, interim development quality manager at the council, said: “This is a proposal to change the house type but just for the potential for the introduction of sun rooms in 127 of the original units.
“When [the application] came in, the sun rooms were not part of the full planning consent we granted, so we said it had to be a fresh application.
“If approved today, two options will be available, so the houses remain the same but with an option for a smaller sun room on the rear end.
“We looked at it in terms of design, and we are satisfied it is acceptable.”
Councillor Willie Wilson, who represents Perth City South, said the local authority needs to put more pressure on housing developers to make sure they hand in planning applications that are fully ready, pointing out planning bosses at the council often have to deal with this type of situation.
The Lib Dem representative said: “This is causing extra work and extra reports to deal with the problem as it comes along.
“We should be asking the housing industry to think a wee bit smarter about this.”
The motion to allow the potential for sun rooms was passed by committee convener Roz McCall (Strathearn) and seconded by Cllr Wilson.
