- Court reporter

A Perth man faced six charges, including two of abducting his former partners and then attacking them, when he appeared on indictment at the sheriff court this week.

Fifty-six-year-old Raymond Urquhart, of Dunkeld Road, had his case continued until September 25.

It is alleged that between October 8 and 29, 2016, at a flat in Perth’s Alexandra Street, he assaulted Tanya Rae – his then partner – and abducted her by detaining her against her will.

He is said to have grabbed her by the throat and compressed it, restricting her breathing, and grabbed her mobile phone from her, all to her injury.

It is also claimed that between the same dates, at the same address, he acted in an aggressive manner towards her.

It is further alleged that on or between August 1 and 31, 2017, he assaulted Audrey Gallacher – his partner at that time – by grabbing her and pushing her on the body and grabbing her and pulling her from her bed at a house in Dunkeld Road, Perth.

Urquhart also faces a fourth charge of behaving aggressively and shouting and swearing at Ms Gallacher at the house between the same dates.

A fifth charge states that on an occasion between October 1 and 31, 2017, during a car journey in the city’s Atholl Street, he grabbed the wheel while she was driving her car.

It is said that he shouted and swore at her and told her he intended to cause the car to collide with other vehicles.

A sixth charge alleges that on November 17, 2017, at a house in Errochty Grove, Perth, he assaulted Ms Gallacher, grabbed her by the throat and pinned her against a wall by the throat.

It is then claimed he knocked her mobile phone from her hand, abducted her by preventing her leaving the living room and detained her against her will.

Urquhart was represented by local lawyer David Holmes.
