Estelle is a volunteer star
A Perthshire woman has been shortlisted in the 2018 Scottish Fundraising Awards.
Estelle Nicol (50) from Auchterarder, who has been volunteering and fundraising for Marie Curie since 2011, is nominated in the‘volunteer fundraiser of the year’category at the October 2 awards in Glasgow.
Globe-trotting Estelle is a change implementation manager with Lloyds Banking Group and gives her free time to helping Marie Curie as an ambassador and fundraiser. She has brought in over £20,000 in seven years.
Estelle said:“I was absolutely astounded when I received word of my nomination.
“As a fundraiser, it is all about having ideas. However, most of these ideas require support in various forms.
“And I am indebted to my friends, colleagues, family, the community of Auchterarder and the team at Marie Curie in Edinburgh who continue to support my fundraising efforts - I couldn’t do it without them.”
Mairi Clinton, Marie Curie community fundraiser for Perthshire, Tayside and Angus added:“We are thrilled Estelle has been shortlisted for volunteer fundraiser of the year.
“Alongside her fundraising, Estelle is a Marie Curie ambassador, where she regularly attends talks to raise awareness of what Marie Curie does and inspires others to embark on their own fundraising journey.”
