Fab talent on display

POS visitors admired this drawing S4 of a hare by Community School of Auchterard­er pupil Brogan Dodds As part of the Year of Young People project, pupils from Crieff High School have created a youth art exhibition for the annual Perthshire Open Studios, on until September 9.

Young people from across Perth and Kinross were invited to submit artwork. This is currently on display within the library at Strathearn Community Campus. The schools included in the fantastica­lly creative exhibition are Crieff High School (including work by former pupils), Blairgowri­e High School, The Community School of Auchterard­er, Pitlochry High School, Goodlyburn PS, Balbeggie PS, Guildtown PS, St Johns RC Academy along with community artwork.

On Friday, August 31 pupils from the YOYP team at Crieff High organised a preview event for artists, their families and invited guests. Councillor Roz McCall and Glenys Andrews the POS president came to see for themselves what the Big County’s talented young artists could do.

Every day during this past week, Strathearn Community Campus and school shared artwork on their social media accounts.

Several people have commented that they would purchase an artwork of a hare , on show at the campus exhibition by Community School of Auchterard­er S4 pupil Brogan Dodds. In March last year, everyone in her art class was invited to

This youth art event in Crieff has been sponsored and supported by Culture Perth and Kinross.

Janice Bourelle, library supervisor at CPK commented: “Having Strathearn Community Library as part of this year’s Open Studios has been a delight.

“This Culture Perth and Kinross venue is the perfect space for showcasing the work of our young artists.

She added:“Visitors are sure to be impressed by the quality of artwork on show. The exhibits enrich our library and they are a wonderful reflection of the amazing talent of our young people.”
