Public meetings over schools under review

- Rachel Clark

Two meetings are to be held to look at the future of two schools in Highland Perthshire.

Both Logierait Primary School and Pitlochry High School are named on an upcoming review of the council’s school estates.

Once the review begins, a number of options for how to move forward with the schools will be presented.

In the previous review of school estates, this often included an option to permanently close the school.

On Sunday, September 16, Pitlochry High School’s parent council will hold a meeting in the River Room at Pitlochry FestivalTheatre.

A spokesperson for the parent council said:“Our secondary school is now under review as part of Perth and Kinross Council’s estate transformation review process.

“At the end of this process a number of options regarding the future of the secondary school will be provided.

“It is possible that one of these options will be to close or mothball the secondary school.

“The parent council, parents and carers, and the whole community must show our support for our great school and we invite everyone to come together for a public meeting on Sunday, September 16 at 4pm in the River Room, Pitlochry Festival to discuss the potential threats and opportunities for our school.”

A meeting to look at Logierait Primary School will then be held on Monday, September 17 at 7pm in Mid-Atholl Hall in Ballinluig.
