Festive panto in classic tradition

-

The Perth-based theatre group Ad-Lib Theatre Arts to perform the classic panto Cinderella this Christmas, with rehearsals already under way.

Directed by Vicky Glennie, the show will be sticking to the traditional jokes and slapstick comedy that everyone loves and expects during the festive season.

Playing the lead roles will be Eilidh Laidlaw (Cindy), Alice Sutherland (Fairy Kind Heart), Cameron Short (Buttons), Mark Murphy (Baron Hard-up), Victoria Rice (the baroness), Victor Malkov (Prince Charming), Chris Eadie (Dandini) and the Ugly Sisters will be played by Mike McMahon and Steven Hewitson.

Vicky explained: “This will be a classic, traditional panto. I like to stick to the traditional script with corny jokes and slapstick comedy - we get a lot of compliments on our pantos because of that.

“I love directing panto - I have loved panto ever since I was little. We used to go to the one in Glasgow every year, it was brilliant.”

And, despite it only being September, the cast are working hard at their lines already.

Vicky continued: “We are starting our rehearsals this week and we are all really looking forward to it.

“We are going to be in the North Inch Community Campus which is a slightly bigger venue compared to our previous pantos.

“And because it is in December, we will have the run of the place which is great.

“It is good to work with the community campus because they are really nice up there and really helpful.”

Cinderella by Ad-Lib Theatre Arts will be held at 7pm on Friday, December 21 and Saturday, December 22, and at 1.30pm on Saturday, December 22 and Sunday, December 23 to get people in the mood for celebrating Christmas.
