National honour for Georgina
Georgina Adams Perthshire Rugby’s Georgina Adams has been selected for the inaugural Scottish Futures under-18 squad.
The newly-launched Scottish Rugby programme is designed to provide training and playing opportunities for talented female age-grade players.
Georgina (15) was the youngest to attend the trials and was invited to attend two days of training with players from across the country.
Now she will benefit from strength and conditioning, medical, nutritional, analysis and lifestyle support. Andy Cummins, Perthshire Rugby Club’s director of rugby, believes the squad selection is great reward for all of Georgina’s hard work.
“Everyone at Perthshire Rugby is absolutely thrilled for Georgina,” he said.
“Georgina is a dedicated and highly skilled athlete and her incorporation into the U18 programme, above her age grade, reflects the hard work and commitment she has put into her training and her love for the sport.
“Georgina is a highly valued and respected player at our club and we are delighted for her.”
Georgina has been playing the sport for four years after starting her rugby career at Kinross RFC before moving to Perthshire Rugby.
As well as training with both the girls and women’s section at the club, she is also part of the Caledonia U16 Girls early talent ID programme.
Georgina is coached by Perthshire Rugby development officer and level three coach Sarah Hogwood.
Girls and women’s training, which caters for under-13 through to senior, takes place on Wednesday evenings from 6pm on the North Inch.
Those aged P1-P7 train with the club’s mini section on the North Inch on Sunday mornings from 10.30am.
