Hotel thanks those who brought ruthless Rolex raiders to justice

-

Richard Fleming Gleneagles Hotel has thanked those who helped bring two armed raiders to justice this week.

Richard Fleming (42) and Liam Richardson (30) were part of a three-man team who stole dozens of Rolex watches from the Mappin and Webb boutique at Gleneagles in June last year.

Fleming was found guilty after a trial this week while Richardson earlier admitted his part in the raid.

A spokesperson for the hotel said:“We’re pleased this Liam Richardson trial has now concluded and welcome the jury’s decision.

“We’d like to thank Police Scotland for their dedicated efforts throughout the investigation, as well as all those who came forward with information to assist the inquiry and trial.”

The verdict was also welcomed by Perth and Kinross council leader Murray Lyle, whose ward covers Gleneagles.

He said:“The people and staff at the hotel were absolutely terrified. I met with the general manager of the hotel at the time, and he was able to tell me how distressed the staff were.

“I am relieved the criminals have been found guilty and presumably will be locked away for some time.

“I would like to thank all the staff and everyone involved who helped with inquiries, and the police for their perseverance.

“This was a complicated case and they have all worked diligently.”
