A new trial date has been fixed for a Perth man accused of attacking – and also stalking – his former girlfriend.

Twenty-nine-year-old Scott McGregor, of Cherrybank Grove, was to have faced trial at the Sheriff Court on September 24.

However, the defence had received“over 200 pages of mobile phone reports”and needed time to go through them.

New trial dates have been set for November 1 and 12, with a further preliminary hearing on October 18.

McGregor has denied that on various occasions between August 1, 2016, and February 16, 2018, at Old Scone Cottages, a house in Errochty Court, Perth, and within a motor vehicle, he assaulted Samantha Abbat, his former girlfriend.

It is alleged that he repeatedly nipped her on the body; grabbed her wrist and twisted her arm behind her back and placed her in a headlock, all to her injury. It is further alleged that on various occasions between August 1, 2016, and April 5, 2018, at Old Scone Cottages, Bonhard House, Perth, and Park Place, Perth, he engaged in a course of conduct which caused Ms Abbat fear or alarm.

He is accused of repeatedly attending at her home address and place of work uninvited; repeatedly following her in his car and attending at various places where he knew she would be. He is also accused of repeatedly contacting her and demanding to know her whereabouts.

He is also said to have repeatedly sent her text messages, including threatening and abusive messages, repeatedly shouted and swore and, on one occasion, drove his car closely behind her vehicle.

McGregor’s bail, with any special conditions, was continued meantime.
