All to play for on derby day

-

Kinnoull manager Alan Cameron reckons Scone Thistle enter this weekend’s Perthshire derby match as favourites.

The teams meet at Tulloch Park in the Premier League North, with the Jags sitting two points better off in the early season standings.

Cameron is hoping his players can put in a more complete performance than the one that scraped a 2-1 win against Forfar Albion last week.

“This Saturday will, as it always is in local derbies, be an extremely difficult game,”he said.

“Scone have obviously started the season very well and deserve to go into the game as favourites on this occasion.

“However, we will hopefully improve on last week’s showing and be able to make things as difficult as we can for Scone.

“We should have a squad of 18 and have no fresh injury concerns.”

A second Perthshire derby will see Coupar Angus, who have yet to record a win this season, travel to take on top-of-the-table Luncarty.

Brownlands Park boss Jon Kelly may be forced into making changes but insists his side will not underestimate the visitors.

He said:“Coupar Angus have had a very bad start to their season after losing their manager and a good few players.

“We will be treating them like we do every other team, though.

“I have said many times before if we perform the way we should then we will give any team a hard time and Saturday will be no different.

“We aim to build on last Saturday’s clean sheet as a solid base like that always helps.

“The message to the players will be to keep our consistency level up, the way it has been for the last month.

“We may shuffle the pack a bit come kick-off as we have picked up a few injuries and also there are a few lads away on holiday this weekend.”

Blairgowrie round off the local action and take on East Craigie at Davie Park.
