Helpclear uphillside

-

A new volunteer group has started on a popular Perth walking spot in Perth and it’s open to anyone.

The ‘green routes to wellbeing’ on St Madgalene’s Hill, completes outdoor tasks such as clearing paths and tree thinning.

The group meets every second Wednesday, with the next meet-up on Wednesday, October 3.

Each session runs from 10am until 12.30pm, and meets in the car park off Glendevon Road.

A Perth and Kinross Council’s community greenspace team spokesperson, said: “The group managed to clear a large area of gorse and broom encroaching onto the path, the benches and picnic tables in just a couple of hours. The plan is to continue to every second Wednesday until the middle of November, clearing and tidying and making a real difference up on this very popular hillside.

“Developed in partnership with NHS Tayside, these sessions will help lift the mood and reduce anxiety through fresh air and exercise, and it’s all free (including tea and biscuits).”

Bring old clothes, sturdy boots and a waterproof jacket, although gloves, tools, tea and biscuits can be provided.
