Polish twin town pals pay Perth a visit

- Douglas Pover, chair of the Friends of Bydgoszcz and Gosia Modlinska, chair of the Friends of Perth, during the opening ceremony of the photograph­ic competitio­n at AK Bell Library Residents living in Perth’s twin city visited Perth last weekend, where they were treated to a civic reception.

The visit marks 20 years of the Fair City being twinned with Bydgoszcz in northern Poland.

As part of the visit, a photograph­y exhibition was opened at AK Bell Library, and also showcased at the North Inch Community Campus.

The exhibition showed the work of two youngsters, Anna Rozeczka (17) and Jarek Piotrowski (18), who won a photograph­y competitio­n in Bydgoszcz to have the opportunit­y to be featured in Perth.

They also enjoyed a civic reception at 2 High Street with Provost Dennis Melloy and the Perth delegation of the group‘Friends of Bydgoszcz’. Photograph­ic competitio­n winners Weronika Matusiak and Szymon Kurkiewicz with Douglas Pover, chair of the Friends of Bydgoszcz

As well as trips across the city and further afield during their stay, the Polish visitors also enjoyed a dinner with Provost Melloy and his wife Libby at The Everest Inn in Perth.
