IT volunteers needed at libraries

-

Culture Perth and Kinross is on the look out for volunteers to help get people online.

CulturePK will be hiring IT support volunteers to help give assistance to people who need to make a claim for Universal Credit.

Training and support will be provided to volunteers who will be required to offer a high level of customer care, impartial IT support and advice, and support CulturePK’s aims and objectives.

The volunteers will need to be helpful and discreet in helping individuals to make their benefit claims online.

A spokesperson said:“To become an IT support volunteer you will possess excellent communication skills, and be comfortable speaking with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

“You will be confident helping individuals to use computers, and have strong IT skills, including proven experience of using the internet, familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and experience of completing forms.

“You will also have the time and commitment to support local communities on a regular basis and understand the need for confidentiality and discretion.

“Working with individuals will be on a pre-booking basis so hours are likely to be flexible and in response to customer demand.”

People who become IT support volunteers may be based at any of the 13 libraries Culture PK runs, although travel expenses will be paid.

Those interested can apply by emailing jobs@culturepk. org.uk and those wanting more information can call Sandra Birse, senior libraries officer, on 01577 867154.
