Spooky times at Perthshire castle

Blair Castle will be running a number of Halloween events. Picture by Nick Mailer Things are going to go bump in the night at a Highland Perthshire castle.

Blair Castle will be hosting a spellbinding Halloween spectacular later this month.

The family friendly event, named ‘the witches’ dinner’, will run daily from tomorrow (Saturday, October 6) until Sunday, October 28, which will see the castle dressed up for a dinner party with a supernatural twist.

Throughout the month, visitors will be invited in to investigate the mysterious case of the missing broomsticks.

On arrival, guests will explore a specially-created Halloween trail to help the hapless witches reunite the dinner guests with their lost broomsticks around the estate.

Children and adults alike will be able to enjoy the spooky fun, which promises to take guests into some of the most “amazing” rooms within the castle, including the tapestry room, Tullibardine room, drawing room and the red, blue and Derby bedrooms.

The trail continues outdoors, with a scary treasure hunt in the gardens and a mysterious quiz.

Treasure will be hidden throughout the gardens and Atholl Estates, including in the deer park, Diana’s grove and St Bride’s Kirk.

Children who complete the activities will receive a special prize as well.

Sweet treats with a Halloween theme will also be available in the Tullibardine restaurant.

Julia Sim, head of sales and marketing at Blair Castle, said: “At Blair Castle, we try to bring bespoke activities to visitors and arrange events which the whole family can enjoy.

“Autumn is an enchanting time at the castle, the turn in season sees the gardens turn beautiful shades and creates a stunning backdrop to the historic attraction.

“We wanted to showcase this in the spirit of Halloween while creating an engaging, fun calendar of events throughout the month of October.”

The witches’ dinner will run throughout October (excluding Saturday, October 27) and entry to the Halloween events and the outdoor spooky quiz are included with the admission costs.
