Prepare to be educated at Pink Floyd tribute gig

-

An Edinburgh Fringe sensation all about eating and being eaten is coming to entertain Perthshire children and their hungry families at Pitlochry Festival Theatre this Sunday at 2pm.

‘Eaten’ is a new work for children (6yrs+) by Mamoru Iriguchi, an awardwinning performance artist who asks “What if your food started talking back?”

So kids, Lionel the lion has just eaten a human called Mamoru for lunch. But Lionel hasn’t chewed his food very well, so Mamoru’s alive and well in his tummy, and now wants to say hello.

Donning a lion costume, Mamoru Iriguchi simultaneously plays the roles of the eater (Lionel the lion - who dreams of being a vegetarian) and the eaten (Mamoru, the human who loves meat).

The show invites children and grown-ups to think about the fascinating world of food chains and our place in the natural world.

The conversation between Lionel and Mamoru continues until Mamoru gets totally digested.

There are strange interruptions from the arrival of a giant daisy and Dr Poo.

For a fun-filled afternoon at the theatre, book online at www. Pitlochryfestivaltheatre.com A big Pink Floyd show is heading for Perth Concert Hall, celebrating 50 years of the iconic British rock group.

When the UK Pink Floyd Experience lights up the night on October 18, there will be all the incredible light displays, video projection and outstanding musicianship required to take lifelong fans on a nostalgic journey.

Recreating the sights and sounds of so much musical history, the show features eight top flight musicians and a world-class crew.

They plan to do two hours of songs from ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ and ‘Animals’, as well as ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’, ‘Another Brick In The Wall’ and ‘Comfortably Numb’.

David Power is the bass player and vocalist who 10 years ago formed the tribute outfit.

It goes without saying David is a fan of the music: “I was a schoolboy in the ‘70s, about 13 and in secondary school. When I heard ‘Dark Side of The Moon’, honestly, my world changed, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

“I started playing the guitar, I got into bands and have been playing ever since.

“The tribute to Pink Floyd took a while. I had to find the right people. We began The UK Pink Floyd Experience 10 years ago.

“I play bass and channel my inner Roger Waters as part of the experience - I’m an angsty, shouty vocalist - while Paul Andrews plays lead guitar and his vocals are softer and more rounded, being more the David Gilmour character.

“We’re looking forward to coming to Perth. We’ve been to Scotland before, but never so far north.

“One of the things we enjoy most about performing is mingling with the fans.
