Green vests put on a great show

There was a large turnout of Perth Road Runners in Glasgow at the weekend for the Great Scottish Run.

In the 10km event, Michael Carroll was 10th overall in a time of 32:45, followed by Myles Bax who was 16th in 33:12.

Also running the 10km were Mark Crawford, Michael Souter, Mark Dunn, Sonjia Crow, Karen Christine and Sarah Bain.

In the half marathon event Stuart Robertson was the first green vest at the finish in 1:16.32. Richard Ward and Ronnie Glen were next back.

Running his first race at this distance was Douglas Robertson, who achieved a time of 2:47.21. Securing personal best times were Lisa Aikman, Rhona Younger, Lorner Malcolmson and Rhona Henderson.

Also running the half marathon were Colin McCreath, Leonard Burnett, Terry Hislop, Stewart Dallas, Richard Hughes, Ella Webley, Hugh Daly, Audrey Howie, Brian Kemp, Amy Bryson and Nina Roberts.

Green vests also made their presence known at the Ochil Ultra over the weekend, with three members running the‘short course’of 30 miles.

Stewart Reid was 13th overall in 5:10.28 – his first ultra. He was followed by Caroline Ness in 7:23.51 and Margaret McIntosh in 7:58.37.

Laurie Carruthers was the sole green vest to take on the‘long course’– a 50 mile test which started in Stirling and finished on the South Inch. She completed it in 11:50.17. Both distances included running over the Ochils.

Two relay teams took on the 50 miles. Each team had a member that ran a 10 mile distance.

The two teams, In Gin We Trust and Doing This For The Wine, were made up of Sara Baillie, Stephane Reid, Jennifer Gilbert, Kristen Allcoat, Rosie Aitken, Rob Gibson, Louise Waywell, Linda O’Neill, Gillian Douglas and Kev Lamont – finishing together in 10:51.15.

There was a sole green vest representi­ng the Perth Road Runners at the East Neuk 10km. Simon Grieshaber completed the race in 40:46.

Elsewhere, there were more parkrun celebratio­ns for the Fair City club as Maria Dale completed her 100th parkrun at Aviemore.

She was joined by Finlay Dale, who was running Aviemore parkrun for the first time.
