Blackburn victory has Jeanfield in second

-

Jeanfield Swifts moved up to second in the East of Scotland Conference C after seeing off Blackburn United 3-0 on Wednesday night.

The Perth men made the midweek trip to West Lothian attempting to build on a 9-0 victory against Craigroyston last weekend.

And it was another three points banked courtesy of Connor McLaren’s double and a Chris Dodd strike.

That’s now 12 goals in two games - without conceding - for the Perth side.

“It was a tough game as they were set-up well,”said forward McLaren.“The first half started slow but after that we controlled the game well.

“For the team to score 12 goals in two games and not concede is extremely impressive but we won’t get ahead of ourselves.

“We need to keep doing the basics right and working hard.

“I think the goalkeeper and defence play a big part in getting clean sheets but the boys in front all work tirelessly.

“That is to make sure chances for the other team are kept to a minimum.

“I’m happy to score another two goals and now we have a big game against Camelon on Saturday.”

Swifts manager Ross Gunnion expects a challenging afternoon away at Camelon.

He said:“Facing Camelon after a midweek trip to Blackburn makes the task a little harder.

“We haven’t had much time to recover or work on specifics.

“But the players are focused and we believe they are capable of getting a positive result.”
